Book Club
Is the only reason you never judge a book by its cover because you can’t read the cover in the first place? Open to both new and more experienced braille readers alike, the Book Club is a small group who meet every week to answer each other’s questions regarding reading using refreshable braille and to practice reading amongst friends.
We are currently reading Peter Pan, by J. M. Barrie. It can be found in the “Children Stories” folder on the RNIB Orbit Reader SD card for grade 2 readers, and the “Children G1” folder for grade 1 readers.
This week we will read chapter 17.

Whilst our formal Friday calls have come to an end, we appreciate that, for many people, the world is still very different to how it was 6 months ago. If you’re still adjusting to the new normal, please feel free to join this informal call to put the world to rights with a member of the Braillists team and other attendees.
Braille For Beginners
We are pleased to present the second of our Braille for Beginners courses, tutored by Melanie Pritchard and following the popular Fingerprint course from RNIB. For more information, please see the registration announcement and registration reminder.
Using Braille on Windows
Our series of Tuesday master classes continues with an overview of using braille on Windows. Find out how to pair a windows PC with a braille display, which screen readers support braille output, and tips and tricks for using braille in conjunction with a screen-reader.

Using Braille on iOS
Did you know you can use your iPhone from your pocket thanks to your braille display? We’ll be showing you how to do this in our next Tuesday evening Masterclass.
Presented by Matthew Horspool, an experienced iOS user and braille expert, we’ll demonstrate how to pair your braille display to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch using Bluetooth, explain how to set your desired braille code, and give you an overview of the many braille commands that are available.
We’ll also demonstrate Braille Screen Input, which allows you to braille directly on the touch screen of your Apple device.
